Make Up For Ever Foundation Shade Swatches

One of the most common questions people have about Make Up For Ever is - What shade am I? I know how difficult it must be to try and determine your shade online so I am hoping this post helps out a little. I am planning on posting as many foundations as I can but for now I am limited to a selection of shades.

The foundation is the High Definition Invisible Cover Foundation. This product promises flawless coverage with a natural finish (and it delivers).

And here they are...

Going from the bottom to the top are shades
107, 115, 117, 118, 120 and 123

And below...

Again from bottom to top we have
130, 135 and 155

I hope this helps give an idea of the shades...
If you have any other Make Up For Ever swatch requests let me know!

Nars Orgasm Illuminator - Summer Essential!

With promises to make your skin look refreshed, radiant and glowing how could you not want to try this product? Nars Orgasm Illuminator can be worn alone or under your foundation.

My preference is under foundation as I don't often go without. I find that it adds an extra glow to my skin without adding a layer of unwanted colour.

Below I have three swatches each with a different amount of product. As you can see from the top swatch (which isn't even fully blended in to my skin) it could be described as a very sheer glow. I have heard some people complain that it is too sheer.

To me though - this is one of the things I love about it. It shouldn't be compared to a blush or a tint, its just (as the name implies) an illuminator.

Here again you can see the product in all it's glory. I have blended the top swatch a little more and you can see that it just adds a lit up look to my skin. It has quite a fluid texture so it is easy to blend and a little goes a long way.

I choose to apply this to my cheeks but it can be worn all over the face.

How do you wear it?

Urban Decay Glide On Eyeliner

Eyeliner's usually claim to glide on - gently, smoothly, without tugging at your skin. Unfortunately not all deliver.

Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide On Eyeliner is so popular because it actually does and not only that but it comes in a variety of shades other makeup brands only dream of.

Here from left to right we have the shades 1999 (plum), Mildew (green), Flipside (teal) & Zero (black). These are the mini pencils by the way.

Creating intense, clean lines is simple with these liners. Even with an unsteady hand. They are creamy and smooth and perfect for smudging if you get in quick.

And, as the name suggests - they will last you all day and night if you so desire.

My favourite out of these four would be Flipside. It looks so fresh and summery!

The Multiple - South Beach

When I first came accross Nars The Multiple - South Beach I glanced over it as though it was another bronze looking product that would look atrocious on my light skin. And then these mini Multiple sticks came into my possession and I couldn't help but try it.

The shade is (accurately) described as shimmering apricot. I still hold that it has a bronze look to it, but in a good way. It's a warm, hearty apricot. And one that suits a variety of skintones!

It's a creamy formula that seems to just melt into the skin, blending without hesitation at the tips of your fingers. Unlike a cream though, the multiple stick dries to a weightless finish like a powder. There is no sticky, gunky feeling on the skin. Perfect for lips and cheeks (I prefer cheeks) it adds just a hint of colour and glow that I so desperately need in winter.

Now this is right up there with my other favourite Multiple stick - Copacabana (for entirely different reasons). I'll be going back for more once my mini stick runs out.

What are your favourite Multiples?

A little Drama

Back to i.d Bare Minerals today with an eyecolour I find highly addictive - Drama. A very popular shade it is described as a deep bronzed pewter. It's a Glimmer which means it has a lot of shimmer. But, it's a good kind of shimmer...

Despite how it may appear Drama is wearable both day and night.

Sweep Drama over the crease for an instant smokey eye. It can be lightly applied for a subtle shimmer or paired with a brown eyeliner such as Coffee Bean or Nurture.

With so many Bare Minerals Glimmers to choose from it's hard to narrow it down, but Drama certainly makes my list.

Curious about other Glimmers? Let me know!

Nars Orgasm.

I think this blush deserves a little post of its own. Although it comes in various forms - Lip Gloss, The Multiple, Illuminator it's the blush that made the shade "Orgasm" so famous.

Let's take a peek...

Here it is - a warm, peachy pink shade with a golden shimmer.

It's touted as a shade that flatters all skin tones.
I find a light sweep of this blush is perfect for my skin and doesn't look too bright.

I like that it has a slight golden shimmer.
I wouldn't describe it as glittery but it certainly imparts a glow.

You can easily work up the colour intensity... Above is about three layers of Orgasm.

I find this a perfectly wearable blush for day and night.
It's simple, fresh and a staple in my makeup bag!

Bare Minerals Liners & dessert worthy shadows

Finally, another post. After a number of customer requests to update the blog here we are!
I have been hesitant because I wasn't too sure of what I was doing.

I know my goal here was to show makeup on real skin but somewhere among the many products we have I got lost. I welcome your ideas and opinions so if you do have requests for certain products please let me know and I will do my very best.

Today I chose bold eyeliners and delicious (looking) eye shadows. All are from i.d Bare Minerals because when it comes to colour they have it down pat. There are so many to choose from and too many combinations to even consider but here are a couple of my favourites.

From the top left working in clockwise direction we have...
i.d Bare Minerals Liner Shadow - Sailor
i.d Bare Minerals Liner Shadow - Sugar Plum
i.d Bare Minerals Liner Shadow - Turquoise Sea

I adore these shades and even though they might strike you as a little bold you would be surprised at how versatile they really are. Sailor and Turquoise Sea are quite matte where as Sugar Plum has a beautiful shimmer.

And here again we have Sailor, Sugar Plum and Turquoise Sea.
With an interesting eye liner I find you don't need to work too hard with your eye shadow which is why I like these three. Anything to simplify!

Below we four luscious looking shadows with names that only increase my desire to play with them.

From top to bottom
i.d Bare Minerals Glimmer - Cherry Coco Truffle
i.d Bare Minerals Sheen - Berry Custard
i.d Bare Minerals Sheen - Mint
i.d Bare Minerals Sheen - Lemon Meringue

All four have a hint of shimmer with Cherry Coco Truffle being a true Glimmer. While in the jars the shades might appear strong but as you can see they come out so subtle with the exception of Cherry Coco. These shades are all available in the smaller jars which seem to last forever.

Well that's all for now. As mentioned above please feel free to email me or comment with ideas or products you would like to see on my pasty skin!

Thanks for reading :)

See it for yourself!

One of the things I plan to do with this blog is to show real colours on real skin. I understand the difficulty of choosing shades online when you have little to go by and I hope to make things a little easier!

Today I am looking at Bare Escentuals - i.d Bare Minerals Diamond infused eyecolour and eyeliner. Bare Minerals is a leading mineral makeup brand trusted by women around the globe who want a flawless look without a lot of the nasties found in traditional makeup.

So, going from top to bottom here we have...

Bare Minerals Liner Shadow in Smoky Diamond
Bare Minerals Eyecolour in Cognac Diamond
Bare Minerals Eyecolour in Flawless Diamond

There are a couple of reasons why I adore these three shimmering beauties.

They blend perfectly together to create a multitude of looks for night and day. As with all of the Bare Minerals Liner shadows, you can wear Smoky Diamond wet or dry and achieve two different looks. I tend to lean toward neutrals and natural shades and this combination is perfect with its browns and pale peach tones.

And last but not least - they are infused with real diamond powder!

Here they are again... Look at them sparkle!

Well, that's it for today.

I will have a new set of goodies to swoon over soon :)

Welcome!

This being my first post, bear with me here! My inspiration for creating this blog is a love of beauty products and a desire to share that with others. You should also know straight out that I sell many of the products that I will blog about in my store. I hope that this will be an informative, helpful and fun place to share a common interest.

Happy Friday :)
